Smoke alarm compliance testing

Legal requirements
Queensland law requires all homes to have photoelectric smoke alarms that are less than 10 years old, interconnected, and powered by either hardwired mains with a 10-year battery backup or a tamper-proof 10-year battery. Alarms must be installed in every bedroom, hallway, and on every level of the home. Rental properties and homes being sold must comply with these standards before lease or sale, with full compliance required for all homes by January 2027. Landlords and sellers have specific responsibilities to ensure alarms are tested, cleaned, and compliant, helping protect occupants and avoid legal penalties.
✅ Must be photoelectric
✅ Must be interconnected — when one goes off, they all do.
✅ Must be hardwired or have a 10-year battery (no removable batteries).
✅ In every bedroom
✅ In hallways outside bedrooms
✅ On every level of the home
✅ Must be less than 10 years old.
✅ Must meet AS 3786:2014 standard.

Phantom Beeping?
That random beep that wakes you up at 3 AM — we’ve all been there. Phantom beeping often means your smoke alarm needs a quick check-up, like a low battery, dust buildup, or an outdated unit. Don’t let the mystery beep drive you crazy — we can diagnose and fix the issue so you get peace and quiet (and safety!) back.
It’s not too late, until it is.
In Queensland, house fires strike over 1,600 homes each year, and 78% of fire-related deaths occur in properties without smoke alarms. Modern homes burn up to 6 times faster, leaving just minutes — or seconds — to escape.
Working, interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms cut the risk of death by more than half. That’s not just a stat — it’s a second chance.
If your alarms are outdated, missing, or non-compliant, fix it today. Install them in every bedroom, hallway, and level of your home. Test them. Trust them.
Because in the moment it matters most, a smoke alarm can be the difference between getting out — or not.
